About Aquasage

A student-led initiative bringing interactive water quality monitoring to the University of Nottingham campus through innovative technology and environmental education.

The Story

From Concept to Campus

Water quality affects everything — from ecosystem health to human wellbeing — yet understanding it often feels like something reserved for scientists and researchers. We wanted to change that.

Aquasage started as a question: what if any student, regardless of their background, could walk up to a station on campus and test water themselves? No lab access, no prior knowledge, no barriers.

That question became a Cascade Grant proposal, and that proposal became this — a student-built, student-led initiative that’s turning an idea into a real campus experience.

Our Approach

Why Aquasage Is Different

Beyond passive education, Aquasage offers hands-on experience with real environmental data. Test samples, see results instantly, and understand what they mean.

Designed For Everyone
No science background needed. Touchscreen interface, voice guidance, and clear explanations make water testing accessible to every student, regardless of major.
Learn By Doing
Every interaction is a learning moment. Students don't just read about water quality — they measure it, interpret it, and share it with their campus community.
Local Action, Global Connection
Campus water quality testing connects directly to UN SDG 6. Your participation contributes to both university awareness and worldwide sustainability efforts."

Meet the Minds Behind Aquasage

Aquasage is powered by a passionate team of students committed to making environmental technology accessible to everyone. From project leadership to technical development, community outreach to educational content creation—every member brings unique skills and dedication to our shared mission of transforming water quality monitoring into an engaging campus experience.

Join The Movement

Multiple Ways to Engage With Aquasage

Whether you’re a student eager to learn, an organization committed to sustainability, or a potential partner wanting to support environmental education—Aquasage offers meaningful ways to make an impact.

For Students

Test Water Samples
Bring samples from campus lakes, fountains, taps, or anywhere you're curious about. Use our Interactive Smart Water Analysis Station to get instant pH, temperature, and turbidity readings. No appointment needed—just bring your sample and explore. Contribute your results to our growing campus water quality map.
Attend Educational Workshops
Join hands-on learning sessions that go beyond textbooks. Our workshops cover water quality science fundamentals, environmental monitoring technology, data interpretation, and connections to UN Sustainable Development Goals. Sessions are designed for students from all academic backgrounds—no prerequisites required.
Become a Water Quality Ambassador
Lead environmental awareness initiatives across campus. Ambassadors receive specialized training in water monitoring, gain experience demonstrating the station to fellow students, develop educational content, and build leadership skills in STEM communication.
Join the Development Team
Contribute your skills to ongoing project development. We welcome students interested in software development, user interface design, sensor integration, educational content creation, community outreach, or project documentation. Gain portfolio-worthy experience working on real-world environmental technology.

For Organizations & Partners

Institutional Partnerships
Universities and educational institutions interested in replicating the Aquasage model can access our open documentation, design specifications, and implementation guidance. We're committed to sharing what we learn to help other campuses create similar student-centered environmental monitoring projects.
Sponsorship Opportunities
Support the expansion of Aquasage through sponsorship. Funding can help develop additional features, create more educational resources, support the Ambassador program, or enable the deployment of additional stations across campus. Sponsors are recognized in project materials and communications.
Research Collaboration
Academic departments, research groups, or environmental organizations interested in collaborating on water quality research, educational program development, or technology innovation are encouraged to reach out. Aquasage provides opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and student research projects.
Corporate Partners
Companies aligned with environmental sustainability, educational technology, or STEM engagement can partner with Aquasage to support student innovation, demonstrate corporate social responsibility, and connect with the University of Nottingham community. Partnership opportunities are flexible and can be tailored to organizational goals.
